Move! is a cultural center and capoeira academy in Sacramento, California.  It is a unique space for arts and community where people from diverse backgrounds come together.  This 3300 sq/ft facility includes tumbling mats, free weights, wood dance floor, mirrors, over 50 brazilian percussion instruments, a sound system, and an inspiring atmosphere.  We offer weekly classes to the public including martial arts, dance, and music.  Move! is home to the group Água de Beber, and is Sacramento's only capoeira school.  

Classes

Classes at Move! are for ages 3 through adult and include active participation, live music, and dynamic movement in a fun group environment.  

Anyone who has an interest in martial arts, dance, acrobatics, and/or music will appreciate capoeira, which includes all of these.  Capoeira is a African-Brazilian tradition where students progressively learn the steps, kicks, dodges, percussion, and more, all while getting in great shape.  Each class includes a warm-up and stretch, instruction in basic techniques, group applications, and playing the instruments we have at the studio.  

For kids, capoeira classes are especially great.  Not only do they get martial arts, gymnastics, and music all in one place, but they develop confidence and learn to work with others.  Plus, its a blast!  Move! also offers clesses in African drum and dance, Mexican folklorico, and more!

Community Involvement

Move! and Capoeira Água de Beber are commited to being a positive force in the local and global community.  We believe in promoting capoeira's amazing capacity to transform individuals and build community.  In addition to maintaining a full-time cultural center, providing scolarships to local youths in the capoeira training program, donating performances and workshops to local causes, and supporting guest teachers, Move! Studio makes regular donations to Projeto Kirimurê, a non-profit that runs a community center for disadvantaged children in Bahia, Brazil.
